“When I look back, all my mistakes, all the bad things that have happened to me start with making a bad decision about who to associate with, whether in business or personal life.“
– Marek Zmyslowski
Marek Zmyslowski grew up in Soviet-era Poland and rejected conventional career and perceived security and stability to thrive in the chaos of start-up business. At an early age he realized huge financial success, then loss, and along with it burnout, depression, and personal crisis. A ground-floor opportunity in Africa began the best experience of Marek’s life but led also to the worst experience of his life.
“Personality is created in situations like this. You don’t know how strong you are until someone really puts you next to the wall. You couldn’t find more literal definition than putting you in a jail cell.”
– Marek Zmyslowski
Marek profiles his great adventure in the book Chasing Black Unicorns – How building the Amazon of Africa put me on Interpol’s Most Wanted List. All sales and speaking proceeds benefit the MaYa Foundation to “redistribute the luck in life” in support of teenage orphan girls from underdeveloped regions dealing with war/terrorist conflicts.
